Chris Rayner, Area Co-ordinator for the Berg Estate was nominated for and won Neighbourhood Watch Volunteer of the Year 2022.

Nominated by Tony Tuck, BDNHW Chair and Mike Coe, BDNHW Vice chair, Chris and her three fellow co-ordinators have achieved a lot since starting the scheme.

  • Setting up a Facebook page, for residents, their family and friends, to give and receive relevant information on the Berg estate.
  • Introductions and meetings with the local PCSO and CSPO. Raising concerns to them, and working effectively with them.
  • Persuading Basingstoke and Deane borough council to set up speed limit reminder signs and speed indicator devices for temporary periods on three roads on the Berg, to monitor serious traffic speeding through the estate.
  • Liaising with local borough councillors with a view to setting up further NHW sub divisions in neighbouring South Ham.
  • Working with Hampshire County to get a hedge cut right back to improve driver vision on a busy junction. Earlier requests by residents had failed.

We’re so proud of Chris and delighted with her achievements!
